Stroopwafels

Delicious and quite ingenious, leave it to the Dutch to come up with this tasty treat. It is a crisp waffle-like wafer-thin disk that has a caramel filling. You place it over your cup of hot coffee, tea or cocoa, wait a minute and then savor each bite of warmed caramel cookie. This little bit of heaven has been nourishing the souls and bodies of the Dutch people since the 1700’s.
